NATIONAL8 Naxalites killed in an encounter with security forces in Bokaro

An encounter is going on between the Naxalites and the police and CRPF team at the foot of Lugu hill in Bokaro district. 8 Naxalites are reported to have been killed in this encounter. The team of security forces is being led by DIG of coal region Surendra Kumar Jha, SP Manoj Swargiari and other officers.

Officials said the operation was a joint one between troops of the 209 Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA), Jharkhand Jaguar and the CRPF. Eight Naxalites were killed and several weapons, including two INSAS rifles, one self-loading rifle (SLR), AK-47 and a pistol, were seized.

There is no report of any injury to the security personnel. Cobra is a special jungle warfare unit of CRPF. According to official sources, Vivek, carrying a bounty of Rs 1 crore, and Special Area Committee member Arvind Yadav, carrying a bounty of Rs 25 lakh, have been killed.
