Seattle police arrested a 15-year-old boy in South Seattle after a stolen vehicle was crashed into a residential yard following a brief hit-and-run incident.
On May 12 at around 7:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a car crashing into a yard in the 6900 block of 44th Avenue South. At the scene, they found an unoccupied sedan with clear signs of ignition damage.
Police soon located and detained a nearby suspect. Although the teen denied involvement, an eyewitness identified him as the driver. Investigators also found that the suspect’s phone was still connected to the vehicle’s Bluetooth system, linking him to the stolen car.
Authorities further believe the same vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run collision just minutes before the crash.
The teen was arrested and booked into juvenile detention on charges including possession of a stolen vehicle and property destruction. The case has been referred to the General Investigations Unit for further review.
