Kent, Washington — June 17, 2026
The City of Kent has announced the temporary closure of the swim beach at Lake Meridian Park after testing detected elevated bacteria levels in the water.
According to Kent Parks, Recreation & Community Services, the closure took effect on June 17 and will remain in place until water quality improves and officials determine it is safe for public use. Public health authorities are advising residents and visitors not to swim or play in the water until further notice.
The city is working with Public Health – Seattle & King County to monitor conditions and conduct additional water quality testing. Officials said updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
Residents looking for alternative swimming locations and water quality updates can check resources provided by King County’s swim beach monitoring program.
The closure is intended to protect public health and prevent potential illnesses associated with exposure to contaminated water.
