The uproar over Kolkata’s Jadavpur University is increasing. Now paintings (graffiti) of Azad Kashmir and Free Palestine have been made on the walls of Jadavpur University. This graffiti was made when the exams were going on on March 10. Regarding this, the police allegedly reached the campus in plain clothes.

Protests have been going on for the past few days at Jadavpur University, where two students were injured after state Education Minister Bratya Basu’s car and another vehicle accompanying him allegedly collided with their vehicle on March 1. The protests have been continuing since then.

An FIR was filed against Basu, a professor and TMC leader Om Prakash Mishra in connection with the violence. The words ‘Azad Kashmir’ and ‘Free Palestine’ were seen written in black on a wall near Gate No. 3 of the university, but it could not be ascertained who or which organisation was behind it.

SFI’s JU unit leader Abhinba Basu said, “We do not support separatist ideas though we are against the oppression of minorities in BJP-ruled states.” He said SFI, the student wing of the CPI(M), has a clear stand on the Palestine issue.
