Disrespect for Pakistani players… not even one of them got a place in England’s cricket league

SPORTS & BUSINESSDisrespect for Pakistani players… not even one of them got a place in England's cricket league

The players’ draft ahead of The Hundred 2025 was held on March 12. Surprisingly, no Pakistani player was selected in it. Five Pakistani players had registered for the women’s draft, while 45 players registered for the men’s draft.

Even Aliya Riaz, Fatima Sana, Yusra Aamir, Iram Javed and Javeria Rauf were not selected. However, it was a bit surprising that not a single Pakistani player was selected in the men’s draft, even though there were many more players in the pool and few overseas spots available in the teams. This season of The Hundred has seen a change.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has invited outside investment in the franchises. Investments have been made in all eight franchises, four of them from IPL franchise owners. Usama Mir has played the most number of matches, 13, for Manchester Originals in 2023 and 2024. Haris Rauf (12 matches), Imad Wasim (10), Mohammad Amir (6), Shaheen Shah Afridi (6), Mohammad Hasnain (5), Zaman Khan (5), Shadab Khan (3), Wahab Riaz (2) are the other players to have played in the league.
