In India The Election Commission, which is facing attacks from the opposition on the allegations of irregularities in the voter list, is now engaged in the exercise to correct it. For this, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has called a meeting of senior officials of UIDAI and the Central Government on Tuesday.
It is believed that an important decision can be taken in the meeting to remove the obstacles in the way of linking the voter list with Aadhar. According to highly placed sources in the Election Commission, Gyanesh Kumar along with the other two Election Commissioners, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Legislative Secretary Rajiv Mani and UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar will be present in the meeting.

Bhuvnesh Kumar’s presence indicates the need to link the voter list with the Aadhaar database and Rajiv Mani’s presence indicates the need to take steps to remove the legal hurdles coming in its way. It is worth noting that after becoming the Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar had promised to completely remove the discrepancies in the voter list within three months. This meeting has been called for this purpose only.
