The Central American country of Panama went black on Sunday. According to reports, a nationwide blackout occurred after a generator at the La Chorrera thermoelectric power plant exploded. The explosion caused a fire inside the generator. A lot of effort had to be made to restore power supply.

President Jose Raul Mulino also gave this information and said that such a situation arose after a generator exploded. The Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN) said that the supply of drinking water has also been disrupted due to the water treatment plant being affected by the blackout.
Mulino posted a video on X that he said showed an explosion at an establishment southwest of the capital, Panama City. “Services will be restored gradually,” he wrote.
