The Punjab government has finally removed the farmers who were protesting at Khanauri and Shambhu border for about 13 months. The action started late on Wednesday night continued till Thursday. After the action taken by the Punjab Police on Wednesday, the structures and sheds have now been demolished and one side of the road has been opened at Shambhu Border.
The movement of vehicles has also started on the highway. The special thing is that the toll plaza on the highway is closed for the time being. Regarding the traffic movement, Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nanak Singh said on Thursday that the roads have been opened for travel. The roads are completely clear and the movement of vehicles is continuing on the highway. He said that within the next 3-4 hours, traffic will start operating normally.
At the same time, Patiala Range DIG Mandeep Singh Sidhu said that a large area has been evacuated at Khanauri border and movable things like tractor-trolley are being shifted 3 kilometers away from the border. If someone wants to take the trolley from there, he can show his identity proof.
