The Datasinghwala border, which was closed 401 days ago to stop the Punjab farmers from marching to Delhi, was completely opened on Thursday. Four layers of gravel and brick barricades were removed.
It took about nine hours for five JCBs, three hydra machines and three poclain machines to remove the gravel brick barricades. Due to all the tractor trolleys and tents parked on the Punjab border not being removed, vehicular traffic could not resume on the Delhi-Patiala National Highway.
There is every possibility that the highway will be completely empty by this afternoon. Only after this will vehicular traffic be allowed. However, after the barricades were removed, two-wheeler riders were allowed to move.
