The South District Police has taken a major action against Bangladeshis living illegally in Delhi. The police have caught 18 Bangladeshis from different places in the district. Of these, the police have arrested eight, while six have been deported. Apart from this, four are being questioned.
Besides this, eight Indian accused who helped them have also been arrested. Deputy Commissioner of Police Ankit Chauhan said that Aadhar cards, PAN cards, voter IDs and Indian passports have been seized from the illegal immigrants. When the police searched the hideouts of the accused, 23 voter cards, 19 PAN cards, 17 Aadhar cards, CPU, 11 birth certificates and six blank voter ID cards were recovered from there.
The police have registered a case against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including the Foreigners Act. The police have also registered a case against eight Indian citizens who gave them shelter and got their fake documents made. These Indian accused also got them jobs and houses on rent on the basis of fake documents.
