Investigation into a train hijacking case in Pakistan’s Balochistan last month has revealed that US-made weapons were used in it. On March 11, the Jaffar Express was hijacked by Baloch insurgents while the train was travelling from Quetta to Peshawar.
There were about 500 passengers on board. Many of these passengers were taken hostage. In the two-day operation, the security forces killed many attackers and freed the hostages. ARY News quoted a Washington Post report as saying that when US forces left Afghanistan in 2021, a lot of weapons were left there.
The weapons recovered from the train hijack site in Balochistan included an M4A1 carbine rifle manufactured by US arms manufacturer Colt. After a detailed investigation, the US military and the Pentagon confirmed that 63 weapons were supplied to Afghan security forces.
