At least 24 people have died in flash floods in Texas, USA, while two dozen people who went camping are missing. According to local officials, the Guadalupe River in south-central Texas was severely flooded after torrential rains on Friday (July 04, 2025) Due to which about two dozen girls are missing from the summer camp located on the river bank. The US Weather Department has declared a flash flood emergency for parts of Kerr County in the Texas Hill Country after a storm brought heavy rain.

Dalton Rice, city manager of Kerrville, the county seat, told reporters that the severe flooding occurred before dawn and no warning had been issued. “It happened very quickly, in a very short period of time. It couldn’t even be predicted by radar. It happened in less than two hours,” Rice said. Earlier, Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leatha said that 13 people have died due to floods in the area. He said, “I think when all this is over, more people will be found dead.”

Meanwhile, Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick has already said that 10 bodies, including children, have been found and some of them were washed away with the cars. He also said that officials are also searching for 23 girls missing from a summer camp.
