The body of former Russian Transport Minister Roman Starovoit was found in his car, Russia’s Investigative Committee reported. According to the information, he served as the governor of the Kursk region bordering Ukraine for about five years. After this, Starovoit was appointed Minister of Transport in the year 2024.
According to NDTV, the official order published on Russia’s legal information portal does not give any reason for removing Starovoit from the post. Starovoit was appointed to this post only a year ago. It is noteworthy that he has been removed from his post at a time when around 300 flights were grounded at major Russian airports due to security threats from Ukrainian drone attacks on July 5-6.
In this regard, the Kremlin informed that former Governor of Novgorod Region Andrei Nikitin has been appointed Transport Minister in place of Starovoit.
