The International Cricket Council (ICC) has appointed Sanjog Gupta as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He will take charge from Monday. Sanjog will be the 7th CEO in the history of ICC. This selection has been done at a time when cricket is moving towards the Olympics. Announcing the announcement, ICC Chairman Jay Shah said, Sanjog’s experience in sports strategy and commercialisation will help take cricket to new heights.
More than 2,500 applications were received from 25 countries for the post from March 2025. The ICC’s HR and Remuneration Committee shortlisted 12 candidates. The final selection was made by the Nomination Committee, which comprised ICC Deputy Chair Imran Khwaja, ECB Chair Richard Thompson, Sri Lanka Cricket President Shammi Silva, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia. Here the ICC Board unanimously selected Sanjog Gupta.
Sanjog Gupta is currently the CEO of Sports and Live Experience at Jio Star. He has more than 20 years of experience in this field. Sanjog started his career as a journalist. He joined Star India in 2010. Became the sports head of Disney Star in 2020. Became the CEO of Jio Star Sports after the merger of Viacom-18 and Disney Star in 2024. Sanjog has a great understanding of media-entertainment.

Our goal is to make cricket a regular sport in the Olympics and take cricket beyond the core market. Sanjog will play an important role in this.
