Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Namibia. Meanwhile, he has been awarded Namibia’s highest honour, the ‘Order of the Most Ancient Welwitschia Mirabilis’. After receiving the highest honour, Prime Minister Modi addressed the Parliament of Namibia It is a great privilege for me to address this august House, the temple of democracy. I express my gratitude to you for conferring on me the highest honour of this country.
I stand before you as a representative of the mother of democracies, and I bring with me the warmest greetings of the 1.4 billion people of India. Earlier, PM Modi had said that Namibia is one of the largest diamond producers in the world. Along with this, India has the largest diamond polishing industry. That too in my home state Gujarat. I am confident that in the times to come, India-Namibia partnership will also shine like these diamonds.
Prime Minister Modi said, India and Namibia have stood with each other since their freedom struggle. The friendship of the two countries is not born out of politics but out of struggle, cooperation and mutual trust. It is nurtured by shared democratic values and shared dreams of a bright future.
