SPORTS & BUSINESSThe excitement of Test cricket will increase further, ICC has made full preparations to introduce Two-Tier Test System!

The two-tier Test system has given birth to a new debate in the cricket world. Many questions are arising in people’s minds regarding this. Every cricket fan is trying to know what the two-tier Test system is all about. The question is also being raised as to what is the purpose behind introducing the two-tier Test system. Preparations are being made to introduce a two-tier test system in Test cricket. The two-tier test system is on the top agenda of the ICC’s annual general meeting which began on Thursday.

The MCC has proposed this. Prominent people like Sourav Ganguly, Graeme Smith, Heather Knight and Kumar Sangakkara, who are part of the MCC Advisory Board, will advocate this new system in front of ICC Chairman Jay Shah. If the ICC gives a green signal to this system, then it can be implemented from the next WTC circle i.e. 2027. Let’s know about it? In fact, traditional cricket bodies are supporting this system to make Test cricket more interesting and competitive. The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has discussed this system and plans to propose it.

If the ICC approves the proposal, the proposed system will be implemented from the next World Test Championship (WTC) circle (2027). The question in the minds of fans is what is the final two-tier Test system? In very simple words, under this, the teams playing Tests will be divided into two tiers based on the ranking of the points table. Top ranked teams will be included in the first tier and smaller teams will be given place in the second tier. This will lead to exciting matches between the big teams. At the same time, smaller teams will compete among themselves to make a place in Tier-1.

This will give the top teams a chance to play more and regular Test matches against each other. At the same time, the lower ranked teams will compete against each other and be motivated to make it to the top group. The ICC’s aim behind this proposed system is to make the game more exciting while also increasing the commercial value of Test cricket.
