Harvard University moves court against Trump, objects to stopping funding

INTERNATIONALHarvard University moves court against Trump, objects to stopping funding

Harvard University has approached the court against the Trump administration. Actually, the matter is about the cut in the university’s funds. The Trump administration has decided to cut the university’s funds by $2.6 billion. The university is upset with this decision of the government.

Harvard alleges that the Trump administration illegally cut the funds. If Judge Alison Burroughs rules in favor of the university, it could reverse the Trump administration’s decisions to first halt funding and later cut it off completely. If the decision comes in Harvard’s favor, the scientists here can restart hundreds of projects, including medical research, which have currently stopped receiving federal funds. Harvard says that the government is stopping the funds to control the academic decisions of the university.

In response, the Trump administration says that this action was not taken out of revenge. Harvard University says that the government is giving universities the option to let the government manage their educational institutions or else the government will not fund research in the fields of medicine, science and innovation. Harvard President Alan Garber said that no government “can dictate what universities can teach, whom they can admit, and whom they can hire.
