Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh submitted his resignation to the Governor on Sunday evening. The decision on the new Chief Minister will be taken within a day or two.
Biren Singh was under a lot of pressure due to the violence that had been going on in the state for 21 months. Opposition parties were also continuously asking questions to NDA on this issue.
According to sources, the Governor had just asked him to take over as acting Chief Minister. After BJP’s victory in Manipur elections, Biren Singh has surprised the central leadership.
