MP Kangana Ranaut has expressed serious concern over the increasing drug abuse in Himachal, especially the cases of chitta. She said that if this is not stopped soon, a terrible situation like Punjab can arise in Himachal, where widows and women are living in many villages.
Talking to journalists in New Delhi, Kangana said that Chitta is reaching Himachal from Pakistan via Punjab. The daily arrests of Chitta smugglers by the police and the large amount of drugs recovered has made it clear that the state is no longer safe. The drug mafia is systematically targeting the youth of the state. He said that the youth who have fallen prey to drugs are losing everything.
To buy drugs, they are selling their parents’ jewellery and their cars. When there is nothing left, they turn to crimes like theft and robbery.
This situation is a dangerous sign for the society and the state. He said that the concern expressed recently by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla is justified.
