Starting September 2, 2025, the U.S. Department of State has narrowed who qualifies for an interview waiver for nonimmigrant visa applications.

✅ Who is STILL Eligible for an Interview Waiver?
1️⃣ Diplomatic / Official Visa Applicants
•Visa types: A-1, A-2, C-3 (except staff), G-1 to G-4, NATO-1 to NATO-6, TECRO E-1
2️⃣ Applicants Renewing B1/B2 or Border Crossing Cards (for Mexican nationals)
•Must renew within 12 months of the visa’s expiration
•Must have been 18+ at the time of the prior visa
•No visa refusal history (unless overcome or waived)
•No apparent/potential ineligibility
•Must apply in their country of nationality or residence

🚫 What’s Changed?
•Interview waivers are no longer automatic for:
•Children under 14
•Seniors over 79
•These age-based exemptions have been removed.

⚠️ Keep in Mind:
Even if you meet the criteria, the U.S. embassy or consulate can still require an interview on a case-by-case basis.
