Renton, WA – Drivers should prepare for major weekend closures on southbound I-405 in Renton as the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) continues work on the I-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project.
Closure Details:
Full closure of southbound I-405 from Sunset Boulevard Northeast/Southport Drive (Exit 5) to SR 169/Maple Valley Highway (Exit 4)
From 11:59 p.m. Friday, August 22 to 4 a.m. Monday, August 25
Detours: Sunset Boulevard Northeast or Logan Avenue North to North Third Street
On- and off-ramp closures at Northeast 30th Street (Exit 6)
From 9 p.m. Friday, August 22 to 5 a.m. Monday, August 25
Detours: Lake Washington Boulevard or Edmonds Avenue Northeast. NE 30th Street will remain open.
WSDOT crews will be installing drainage crossings, paving, and implementing a traffic switch during the closures.
Officials advise drivers to plan ahead, expect delays, and use detour routes or alternate highways when possible.
