RENTON, Wash. — On the first day of school, Renton Police Chief Schuldt, Deputy Chief Hardin, and Deputy Chief Rutledge visited several elementary schools to greet students. School Resource Officers (SROs) also welcomed high school students at Lindbergh, Renton, and Hazen.
The department emphasized its commitment to building strong relationships with students throughout the year.
Police also reminded drivers that school is back in session and urged them to slow down in school zones, obey traffic laws, and watch for children crossing streets. Increased patrols will be in place around schools to help ensure student safety.
City of Renton and Renton School District officials echoed the message, encouraging the community to do its part to keep children safe on their way to and from school.
