The new Income Tax Bill will be introduced in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. This bill was approved by the Union Cabinet last week. Sources said the government wants to hold detailed discussions on the bill and the bill is likely to be sent to a select committee for in-depth discussion.
Sitharaman had earlier indicated that the bill would be sent to a parliamentary committee for careful scrutiny. He said, ‘The process is that the committee makes its recommendations, they come back and then the government, through the Cabinet, considers whether these amendments should be accepted or not.’
