SEATTLE — October 11, 2025 — Seattle police are investigating a fatal collision that left a 31-year-old man dead late Friday night in South Seattle.
According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), the crash occurred around 10:45 p.m. on October 10 near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and Rainier Avenue South.
Emergency crews from the Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived at the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but the man succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators with the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) responded and processed the area overnight. Preliminary findings indicate that a vehicle traveling southbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Way South struck the man, who was lying in the roadway for reasons still under investigation.
Police said the driver remained on scene and cooperated with officers. He showed no signs of impairment and was not arrested.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death and release the man’s identity after notifying next of kin.
