Seattle, WA — Seattle police are investigating a shooting that left a 41-year-old man injured early Tuesday morning in North Seattle.

Around 1:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting near North 86th Street and Fremont Avenue North. When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from two gunshot wounds to his back. Officers provided initial medical aid until Seattle Fire Department (SFD) personnel arrived and transported the man to Harborview Medical Center. He remains in serious but non-life-threatening condition.

Investigators determined that the victim had been sleeping in his van when several men approached, demanding that he open the doors. Moments later, the van’s windows shattered, and the victim realized he had been shot. He managed to drive a few blocks away to safety before calling for help.

The suspects fled before officers arrived. Police processed the scene and collected evidence as detectives continue to investigate the motive behind the shooting.
