USAElderly Woman Hospitalized After Violent Robbery in South Seattle

Seattle, WA — An 88-year-old woman is recovering in the hospital after being violently attacked and robbed on the back porch of her South Seattle home late Monday night.

According to the Seattle Police Department, the woman was cleaning household items on her back porch when a man approached and demanded her belongings. When she refused, the suspect assaulted her repeatedly and dragged her into her garage, where the attack continued. The man then stole several of her personal items before fleeing the scene.

The incident occurred in the 9900 block of 64th Avenue South. The victim, who managed to scream for help, told officers she believed the suspect “was going to try to kill her.”

Emergency responders transported her to Harborview Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

A large-scale search was launched involving Seattle Police, Burien and Tukwila officers, and the King County Sheriff’s Office, but the suspect — described as a man in his 30s — remains at large.

The Crime Scene Investigation Unit processed the area while robbery detectives conducted interviews at both the scene and the hospital.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000. Anonymous tips are also accepted.
