Seattle, WA (Oct. 2025) — Downtown Seattle has seen a remarkable drop in violent crime, with rates falling 36% compared to last year, reaching the lowest level since 2017, according to recent data released by the Seattle Police Department.

Officials attribute the decline to increased community engagement, expanded mental health outreach, and targeted police patrols in high-traffic areas such as Pike Place Market and the downtown waterfront.

“We’re seeing real results from partnerships between law enforcement, local businesses, and neighborhood groups,” said a city spokesperson. “This progress shows that safety and community trust can go hand in hand.”

Residents and business owners have reported a noticeable improvement in safety and foot traffic. The city hopes the trend will continue as it focuses on revitalizing downtown and supporting public spaces.
