Kirkland, WA – October 29, 2025 — The Kirkland Police Department has unveiled a new Cold Case webpage aimed at drawing renewed attention to unsolved cases and encouraging community involvement in helping bring long-awaited justice to victims and their families.
The newly launched webpage provides detailed information on ongoing investigations, allowing the public to review case summaries and submit tips directly to detectives.
Currently, the page features one case — the 2006 homicide of 23-year-old John Austin Schuoler. On September 15, 2006, Schuoler was found deceased in his Kirkland apartment by his roommate. The King County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide caused by blunt force trauma. Despite extensive investigative efforts over the years, no suspect has been charged, and the case remains unsolved.
“Every unsolved case represents a family still waiting for answers,” said Kirkland Police Chief St. Jean. “Our detectives remain dedicated to finding the truth, and we hope that renewed public attention will inspire someone to come forward with information that helps bring justice for John and his loved ones.”
The department plans to expand the webpage over time, adding more unsolved cases and updates as new information becomes available.
Community members are encouraged to visit www.kirklandwa.gov/KPDColdCases to learn more and submit tips to the Investigations Division.
