WASHINGTON STATE — Anglers across Washington will have an exciting opportunity this Thanksgiving weekend as the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) stocks 25 lakes statewide with nearly 65,000 jumbo rainbow trout for its annual Black Friday fishing tradition.

Steve Caromile, WDFW Inland Fish Program Manager, said the goal is to provide residents with an accessible and enjoyable outdoor activity during the holiday weekend.

“WDFW has offered Black Friday fishing for more than a decade, and it’s a great way to get outdoors over the holiday weekend,” Caromile said. “We stock jumbo trout in lakes near communities, making it easy to spend a few hours on the water with friends and family.”

These special holiday fish can weigh up to three pounds and grow to 17 inches in length, offering a rewarding experience for both casual and seasoned anglers.

Along with the Black Friday stocking, WDFW staff will release nearly 230,000 additional trout into 67 lakes across the state as part of their broader fall fish-stocking program.

A full list of stocked lakes is available on the WDFW website.
