KENT, WA — The Kent Police Department announced a strong start to its annual city-wide food drive, crediting both employees and community members for an “amazing” outpouring of support.
According to the department, the first major pickup occurred earlier this week when a representative from Project Access collected approximately 500 donated items. The following day, contributions surged even further as a local business, EZ Fiber, delivered an additional 900 items. At the same time, employees and residents continued to drop off donations, resulting in a second delivery totaling more than 1,100 items.
Photos shared by the department show vehicles packed with canned goods, pantry staples, and boxed food, along with smiling volunteers coordinating the effort despite rainy weather.
In response to the overwhelming generosity, the department announced that the food drive has been extended through December 15th, giving residents even more time to participate.
“We want to thank everyone who has donated,” the announcement said. “If you wanted to donate and haven’t made it down here yet, there is still time.”
The ongoing effort highlights the community’s commitment to supporting local families in need as the holiday season approaches.
