Tacoma, Washington — Authorities have opened a homicide investigation following the tragic death of a 2-year-old boy who was found unresponsive on November 13, 2025, in the 000 block of St. Helens.
Police officers were dispatched around 10:20 a.m. after the Tacoma Fire Department responded to a report of a child who was not breathing. When officers arrived, they began looking into possible child abuse after statements from the adult male caring for the child did not match what firefighters and officers observed at the scene.
The toddler was rushed to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment. Detectives initially arrested an adult male for Assault in the 1st Degree. However, on November 19, 2025, the child succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
With the child’s death, the investigation has now shifted to a homicide case. Detectives are actively working to uncover further details and determine the circumstances leading to the child’s fatal injuries.
Authorities have not released additional information as the investigation remains ongoing.
