The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) says it is entering a “golden age of travel” as agency officials prepare for what may be one of the busiest Thanksgiving travel periods in U.S. history.
In a new press release, TSA announced it is ready to screen more than 3 million travelers in a single day, a threshold that has only recently become common as air travel continues to surge past pre-pandemic levels.
A graphic released by the agency highlights the Top 10 Busiest Travel Days in TSA History, nearly all of which occurred in 2025. The highest volume day on record was June 22, 2025, when 3,096,797 passengers were screened nationwide. Other dates throughout 2025—particularly during summer holiday periods—also surpassed 3 million travelers.
With Thanksgiving among the most popular travel holidays of the year, TSA leaders say they are fully staffed and prepared for long lines and record passenger volume at airports across the country. Travelers are encouraged to arrive early, review carry-on guidelines, and stay up to date on airport conditions.
