The City of Kent marked Small Business Saturday with a nostalgic look back at its historic Meeker Street Shops, sharing a 1949 photograph that captures the charm of the city’s mid-20th-century downtown.
City officials encouraged residents to explore the area, noting that many elements of Kent’s 1950s character can still be found while strolling through the present-day downtown district. The post also invited the public to look out for items referencing “Titusville,” the city’s original name before it officially became Kent.
The celebration aimed to spotlight local businesses while honoring the community’s history.
