Multiple Teens Arrested After Shooting at Officer and Fleeing in Stolen SUV on I-5

USAMultiple Teens Arrested After Shooting at Officer and Fleeing in Stolen SUV on I-5

Several teenagers were taken into custody Friday night after reportedly shooting at a Seattle police officer and leading authorities on a high-speed pursuit in a stolen SUV along Interstate 5.

According to Seattle police, the incident began around 9 p.m. on November 29 when Community Response Group (CRG) officers attempted to stop a Dodge Durango driving erratically on Aurora Avenue North. The vehicle sped off, and officers did not pursue.

Plainclothes units later located the SUV parked in South Seattle. As patrol units were directed to the scene, the SUV began moving again. While traveling southbound on I-5, one of the teens allegedly fired several rounds at a CRG officer driving an unmarked vehicle. The officer was not injured, and no officers returned fire. Police reported that a nearby motorist’s vehicle was struck, leaving bullet fragments in the witness’s lap.

CRG and patrol units initiated a pursuit that continued into Tukwila and ended near South 188th Street and Military Road South after officers executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver. Several teens were taken into custody, including three girls ages 15–17 and a 16-year-old boy who fled on foot. Two additional male suspects ran from the SUV and were not located despite a multi-agency search involving a K9 team.

Police recovered a handgun near the abandoned vehicle and a second firearm on the teen boy, who also had a felony robbery warrant.

During the ongoing investigation, officers learned that a man with a gunshot wound to his leg had arrived at Valley Medical Center in Renton. Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) detectives responded to determine whether the injury was connected to the earlier shooting.

The four teens were booked into juvenile detention at the Judge Patricia H. Clark Children & Family Justice Center. They face multiple charges, including first-degree assault, possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm, and attempting to elude police.

The case remains under active investigation, and detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the SPD Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000. Anonymous tips are welcome.
