WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced a major change to how immigration application fees must be paid, eliminating paper payment options such as checks and money orders beginning October 28, 2025.
Under the new policy, all USCIS fees must be submitted electronically either through:
-
ACH debit from a U.S. bank account using Form G-1650, or
-
Credit or debit card payments using Form G-1450
USCIS officials say the change is designed to reduce the risks of fraud, lost payments, and theft, while modernizing the agency’s financial processing systems.
“This transition to electronic payments will enhance security and efficiency for both applicants and the agency,” USCIS stated.
Applicants who attempt to submit fees by check or money order after October 28, 2025 may have their immigration forms rejected, potentially causing delays in case processing.
USCIS is encouraging applicants, legal representatives, and employers to prepare for the transition by familiarizing themselves with the electronic payment forms and ensuring access to secure digital payment methods before the deadline.
Additional guidance and payment instructions are available through official USCIS channels.
All USCIS fees must be paid via an ACH debit transaction from a U.S. bank using Form G-1650, or a credit/debit card using Form G-1450.
These changes reduce the risks of fraud, lost payments, and theft. If you try to pay by check or money order, we may reject your form.…
