Kent, Washington – The City of Kent’s Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department has issued an update regarding widespread park and trail impacts caused by excessive rainfall and recent flooding.

Officials said the city is beginning to transition from emergency response to recovery, but many parks and trails remain closed due to lingering floodwaters, debris, and unsafe conditions. Residents are urged to stay out of closed areas for their own safety and to allow crews time to complete cleanup and inspections.

Park Impacts (as of December 20):

  • Riverbend Golf Complex: The 18-hole golf course is closed. The driving range and restaurant center remain open during normal hours, and the 18-hole pro shop is open until 4:30 p.m.

  • Van Doren’s Landing Park: Open

  • Lake Fenwick Park: Lower boardwalk on the Lake Fenwick Trail is closed

  • Riverview Park: Closed

  • Lake Meridian Park: Boat launch and parking lot closed

  • Old Fishing Hole: Closed

  • Briscoe Park: Closed

Trail Impacts:

  • The Green River Trail remains closed throughout the City of Kent

  • CPS Trail: Standing water reported in several locations; barricades remain in place where trails are closed

City officials emphasized that conditions may change as cleanup work continues. Residents are asked to follow posted signage, avoid barricaded areas, and never walk or bike around closures.
