USATwo New Officers Graduate from Police Academy, Join Kent Police Department

Kent, Washington

The Kent Police Department (KPD) welcomed two new officers this week as they officially graduated from the Criminal Justice Training Commission Police Academy.

Officers M. Coury and N. Heath completed their academy training on Thursday and will now begin their on-the-street education in Kent under the guidance of Field Training Officers. Their graduation comes as KPD continues to expand its ranks to meet the growing needs of the community.

Officer M. Coury has deep roots in the Kent area, having lived much of his life in Maple Valley, Enumclaw, Auburn, and Renton. A local high school graduate, Coury also attended college locally and brings extensive experience in managing technical support teams. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, watching his daughter play college softball, hosting gatherings, attending live music events, and cheering on Seattle sports teams including the Seahawks, Mariners, and Kraken.

Officer N. Heath was born and raised in Colorado, where he completed high school and earned an Associate of Arts degree in Organizational Leadership. He is a U.S. Army veteran, having served as an Artillery Cannon Crew Chief and achieving the rank of Sergeant before leaving service honorably. His military service includes deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as assignments within the United States, including Fort Lewis. Before joining KPD, Heath worked as a manager for a local company in Washington. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, four-wheeling, and learning new skills.

The Kent Police Department congratulated both officers on their achievements and encouraged the community to welcome them as they begin their law enforcement careers serving the City of Kent.
