Drunk Tagger Caught Red-Handed Vandalizing Bridge, Running From Cops

USADrunk Tagger Caught Red-Handed Vandalizing Bridge, Running From Cops

A 20-year-old suspect was arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly vandalizing a bridge and attempting to flee from police in Seattle’s South Park neighborhood.

According to the Seattle Police Department, the incident occurred just before 1:00 a.m. when a patrol officer spotted a man spray-painting graffiti on the lower West Marginal Way South bridge near the 700 block of South Cloverdale Street.

When the officer approached, the suspect ran, triggering a foot chase through the area. After a prolonged pursuit, the officer caught up with the suspect and took him into custody.

Police reported that the suspect had light blue paint residue on his hands, which appeared to match the fresh graffiti discovered beneath the bridge. Officers also noted the man appeared intoxicated and had difficulty maintaining his balance while walking.

During the arrest, officers recovered a knife and a bottle of Fireball liquor from the suspect. Authorities said the man is known to law enforcement for prior violent offenses.

Police documented the graffiti damage on the bridge and collected evidence from the scene. The suspect was later booked into King County Jail on charges including property destruction, obstructing a public officer, and minor in possession of alcohol.

Detectives assigned to the case have referred the charges to the city attorney’s office for review.
