Tarrant County, Texas — Authorities in Texas have arrested an Afghan evacuee, Mohammad Dawood Alokozay, on suspicion of making a terroristic threat after investigators say a TikTok video suggested he was planning an attack in the Fort Worth area. Alokozay, who obtained permanent resident status in September 2022 under Operation Allies Welcome, was taken into custody Tuesday by local law enforcement and members of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.
According to officials, the suspect faces state charges related to the alleged threat. The arrest comes shortly after a separate high-profile case involving another Afghan evacuee accused of a shooting near the White House — developments that have intensified scrutiny of post-withdrawal vetting processes for evacuees brought to the U.S. following the 2021 Afghanistan exit.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has reportedly placed a detainer on Alokozay, opening the possibility that he could face removal proceedings depending on the outcome of the investigation and criminal case.
The case remains under active review.
