The anti-India attitude of Dr. Mohammad Yunus, the chief advisor of the interim government of Bangladesh, continues. Even after meeting PM Modi at the BIMSTEC summit, the Yunus government has handed over important projects at strategic locations to China and Pakistan. These include a port and an airbase.
Bangladesh has given China the responsibility of expanding the Mongla port, just 200 km from Kolkata, India. This deal was sealed during Yunus’ recent visit to Beijing. China has promised to give $ 400 million (about Rs 3,300 crore) for the development of this port.
At the same time, the Bangladeshi government is building a military airbase in Lalmonirhat district, which is just 120 km away from India’s ‘Chicken Neck’ i.e. Siliguri Corridor. Bangladeshi pilots are being sent to Pakistan for this airbase so that they can learn to fly Pakistani JF-17 fighter jets.
On March 27, five officers were also sent for training.
