Seattle, WA — A violent armed robbery in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood has been upgraded to a homicide after the primary victim succumbed to his injuries early Friday morning.
Police reported that the 41-year-old man, who had been critically wounded during the incident, died at approximately 3:35 a.m. at Harborview Medical Center. Following his death, detectives from the Homicide Unit have taken over the investigation.
The incident initially occurred around 5:30 a.m. on April 9, when authorities responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment in the 2400 block of 4th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Emergency responders provided immediate aid before transporting him to the hospital in critical condition.
A second victim was also assaulted during the robbery, reportedly pistol-whipped by the suspect. He sustained minor injuries.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect shot the first victim and attacked the second during the course of the robbery. Investigators are still working to determine what items, if any, were stolen.
