A group of students in Bangladesh have announced the formation of a new political party. The movement of these students had ousted the Sheikh Hasina government from power in August last year.
The movement of these students had ousted the Sheikh Hasina government from power in August last year. The new republican student parliament or Democratic Student Council includes key organizers of the powerful Students Against Discrimination (SAD) group.

According to Bangladeshi newspaper Daily Star, the new party has been named Jatiya Nagrik Party and it will be launched on Friday. Nahid Islam, who was an advisor in the interim government of Mohammad Yunus, has been appointed the party’s convenor and Akhtar Hussain has been appointed member secretary.

Additionally, Hasnat Abdullah has been named as the Chief Organizer (South), while Sarjis Alam has been named as the Chief Organizer of the North Zone and Naseeruddin Patwari as the Chief Coordinator. These decisions were taken during the joint meeting of Citizen Committee and Anti-Discrimination Students
