In the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), war has also become hi-tech, where drones have become the biggest and deadliest weapon. Recently, drones were used extensively in the India-Pakistan military conflict.
At the same time, drones are also being used in the Russia-Ukraine war. In view of this, India is continuously strengthening its defense capabilities. Amid the ongoing tension with Pakistan, India has successfully tested the indigenous ‘Bhargavastra’ anti-drone system. This system is capable of firing 64 guided micro-missiles simultaneously, making it an unprecedented solution against drone swarms.
The anti-drone system has been developed by Solar Defense and Aerospace Limited. The most important thing is that not much money was spent in developing this system. This system is another example of India’s self-reliant defense policy and the success of the ‘Make in India’ mission.
On May 13, the micro rockets of this system were tested at Gopalpur Seaward Firing Cage in Odisha. In the testing, the rockets hit all the targets (drones). Three tests were conducted for the rocket in the presence of senior officers of Army Air Defense (AAD).
In the first two tests, one rocket each was fired. Then in the third test: two rockets were fired in salvo mode at an interval of two seconds. All the four rockets performed brilliantly. The rockets achieved all the launch parameters.
