Bologna Football Club created history by winning the Italian Cup for the first time in 51 years. The team defeated 5-time champion AC Milan in the final played in Rome on Thursday. Dan Ndoye scored the only goal from Bologna and gave the team a historic victory.
Dan Ndoye, returning from injury, scored in the 53rd minute to give Bologna their first major title since 1974. Since then, the team has won only two titles in the second division. This was Bologna’s third Italian Cup win, having previously won the title in 1970 and 1974.
This was also Vincenzo Italiano’s first win in the final as a coach. He had been losing in the final for the last 2 years while coaching the Fiorentina team. His team lost the Italian Cup in 2023 and the Conference League title last year.
After becoming the champion, the coach said, the disappointments of the past years had broken me, I was finding it difficult to make a comeback, but now I am happy with the victory. I give the credit of winning this big trophy to my team, who gave their best against the best team of Italy.
