The ministry has given Z category security to Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama. This decision was taken after the IB had given a report expressing fear of danger to the Dalai Lama.
Under Z Security, the Dalai Lama will get a total of 33 security personnel, including armed stationary guards deployed at his residence in Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh, private security officers providing round-the-clock security and armed escort commandos in shifts.
The Dalai Lama is an 89-year-old Tibetan spiritual leader. Buddhist followers see him as a metaphor for compassion. He is known for his teachings on peace. Millions of people respect and follow him.
