Burglary Suspect Arrested in South Seattle After $400 Liquor Theft

USABurglary Suspect Arrested in South Seattle After $400 Liquor Theft

A 37-year-old man was arrested early this morning after allegedly breaking into a South Seattle business and stealing approximately $400 worth of alcohol.

Police responded around 4:15 a.m. to reports of a burglary in the 5200 block of Rainier Avenue South. Upon arrival, officers discovered a damaged front door, a shattered window, and a metal pry bar left at the scene. The suspect had already fled.

While searching the surrounding area, officers located a man a few blocks away carrying a large duffel bag. He was detained without incident but initially denied involvement.

After reviewing surveillance footage provided by the business owner, police confirmed the suspect’s involvement in the break-in and placed him under arrest. Authorities noted that, in addition to the stolen alcohol, the business sustained an estimated $2,000 in property damage.

The suspect—previously convicted for attempted burglary—was booked into King County Jail on charges of commercial burglary. Officers successfully recovered the stolen alcohol and returned it to the owner, while the pry bar was collected as evidence.
