Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Thursday that the old US-Canada relationship is over now. The Canadian PM said this after the controversy over Trump’s imposition of 25% tariff on foreign cars.
Speaking to reporters after a cabinet meeting in the capital, Ottawa, Carney said Canada’s old relationship with the US, which was fundamentally based on keeping the economy united and advancing security and military cooperation, no longer exists.
Carney also said that he can talk to Trump in the next 1-2 days. He said- I am ready to talk to him, but he will not participate in any trade talks with America until Trump shows respect for Canada. He is repeatedly threatening to occupy Canada.
If the conversation between the two leaders takes place, this will be the first time Carney has spoken to the US President since becoming Prime Minister. Usually, any new Canadian PM talks to the US President on the phone soon after assuming office
