The Pakistan Cricket Board has claimed that it has made huge profits by hosting the Champions Trophy. The board said that it will get 10 million US dollars (280 crore Pakistani rupees) from this tournament in which the Indian team became the champion.
According to PCB spokesperson Amir Mir and chief economic officer Javed Murtaza, all expenses of the tournament were borne by the ICC. Quoting Mir, PTI said, “All expenses of the tournament were borne by the ICC. Apart from this, we are expecting to get Rs 3 billion from the ICC after the audit.”
The PCB had initially set a target of earning Rs 2 billion from the Champions Trophy, but they managed to exceed it. Officials claimed that the PCB’s total revenue in the 2023-24 financial year crossed 10 billion, which is 40 percent more than last year.
