Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has lost the election from New Delhi Assembly seat. He has been defeated by Parvesh Verma of BJP. Arvind Kejriwal was holding this seat since 2013. He started AAP’s decade-long rule in Delhi by defeating veteran Congress leader and then Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

Kejriwal finished nearly 4083 votes behind his rival, while Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit finished third. The results will reignite discussions over the rift between the two parties – both are members of India’s opposition bloc – and whether an alliance would have yielded a different result.
