RENTON, Wash. – October 28, 2025 — The City of Renton is warning residents about several unlicensed mobile food vendors operating in Renton and nearby areas. City officials say that vendors without proper permits and sanitation measures pose serious public health and safety risks.
The coordinated enforcement effort involves multiple agencies, including the Renton Police Department, Renton Regional Fire Authority, and Public Health – Seattle & King County. Together, they are working to locate and shut down unauthorized mobile food operations that fail to meet health and safety standards.
City officials are urging residents to help protect themselves and their families by checking that mobile food vendors meet the following requirements before purchasing food:
✅ A visible business license on the cart or truck (ask to see it if not displayed)
✅ A food safety rating from King County Public Health
✅ A wash station available on-site
Residents who encounter food vendors operating without these requirements are encouraged to report them to King County Public Health via the Food Safety Complaint Form at kingcounty.gov/health/food-safety/complaints.
Officials emphasize that this initiative supports both consumer safety and legitimate small businesses that follow the rules.
For those seeking safe dining options, the Renton Regional Fire Authority provides a list of approved and licensed mobile food vendors, available at: rentonrfa.com.
“This is a team effort to keep our community safe and support responsible small businesses,” city staff said in a statement. “Stay healthy, Renton!”
